Why sponsoring a dog makes a great gift

Whether it's an unusual birthday gift, a charity Christmas present or special anniversary surprise, sponsoring a dog is the perfect gift for dog-lovers. Many people have space in their hearts for a dog of their own but don't have the time, space or financial ability to do so. By sponsoring a dog as a gift you'll not only provide them with a new doggy friend but you’ll also be helping change the lives of the thousands of abandoned dogs that come through our doors every year. With more than 1,700 stray and abandoned dogs in our care at any one time, we really need your help.

What will the sponsor receive?

When you sponsor a dog as a gift the lucky recipient will get:

  • A personalised photo-certificate with details of their new pal, which they can treasure forever.
  • Their four-legged friend will always be next to their heart with a wallet sized sponsor’s card!
  • They can let everyone know about their new best friend with this window sticker and magnet!
  • Their doggy pal will send them fun, colourful updates full of their latest news at Christmas, on Valentine’s Day and in the summer!
  • As a supporter you’ll also receive Wag! magazine three times a year. It’s full of doggy news and shows how your sponsorship donations are helping all the dogs at Dogs Trust.

What your sponsor will receive - welcome pack, 3 updates a year and a copy of Wag magazine

How your gift helps

Your gift is used to help your sponsor dog and all the dogs in our care. The money is used to cover the costs of running the Rehoming Centres and goes towards essential everyday items, treats for the dogs, training and medical care - all with the ultimate goal of finding each dog a loving home.

Who are our sponsor dogs?

Most dogs in our care find loving new homes within about six weeks but some need a little extra help along the way. Whether this be specialised training and behavioural support, medical care or just a bit more TLC; Dogs Trust will be there for as long as it takes because we never put a healthy dog down.  We also receive no government funding so are totally dependent on the generosity of people like you to carry out our work.
