Finding an alternative
I need help with veterinary or surgical costs
It’s tough when your circumstances make it hard to care for your pooch, but there is help available.
If you’re struggling to meet the cost of your vet bills, speak to your vet about it first. They may be able to offer you a payment plan or another way of spreading the cost. There are also animal charities who may be able to help, depending on your location and circumstances.
PDSA
PDSA provides low-cost and free vet care to owners in need across the UK through its network of pet hospitals. You may be eligible for help, depending on your location and circumstances.
Blue Cross
Blue Cross provides veterinary treatment to sick and injured pets when their owners can't afford private vet fees. You may be eligible for support from them, depending on your location and benefit status.
RSPCA
Occasionally, the RSPCA may be able to offer a contribution to a vet bill through its local branches and hospitals, known as welfare assistance.
This didn't work for me, what's next?
We know this is a tough decision, and we won’t judge you for needing to find your dog a new home. Sometimes, asking us for help is the most responsible thing you can do for your dog.
We will do everything we can but in some circumstances, we won’t be able to take a dog. If that’s the case, we’ll be honest with you about it. We'll always offer advice and help you make alternative arrangements if we can.
If you need to return a dog you've rehomed from us please see our post-adoption support advice for next steps.
