Fostering with us

Fostering a dog is a deeply rewarding experience, for both humans and dogs.

Dedicated to supporting dogs and dog-lovers across Scotland, Dogs Trust proudly expanded its successful Home from Home fostering scheme into Dundee and the surrounding areas in March of 2022.

Since launching, the scheme has already helped rehome over 70 dogs into loving families, with more dogs currently thriving in foster homes across Tayside, Perth and Kinross, Fife, Angus, and Kincardine.

Home from Home offers a unique opportunity: for those not ready to adopt permanently, fostering provides all the joys of caring for a dog without the long-term commitment. Foster homes give dogs of all breeds, sizes, and ages the chance to relax, recover, and flourish in a supportive home environment until their forever family is found.

Meet our Home From Home Coordinators

Alistair Aitken and Izzy Kemp are the dedicated Home from Home Coordinators at Dogs Trust Dundee. Their role is to guide foster carers through every step of the journey, from initial enquiry to heartfelt goodbyes when a dog moves on to their forever home.

You might spot Alistair and Izzy in their distinctive yellow Dogs Trust vehicle at local events, where they spread the word about fostering opportunities. At Dogs Trust Dundee, we are committed to ensuring that every foster carer receives the highest level of support and guidance. We focus on building carers’ skills, boosting their confidence, and providing opportunities for further development, helping them grow and succeed in their vital role within the fostering community.

Whether it’s helping you find the right dog for your household or preparing you for your foster dog’s next chapter, the team ensures you are fully supported. Foster carers are provided with everything they need, including food, veterinary care, and essential supplies, so they can focus entirely on giving their foster dog love and attention.

Interested in fostering?

We are actively seeking compassionate foster carers across Dundee, Tayside, Perth and Kinross, Fife, Angus, and Kincardine.
