Come one, come all to our very first Community Hub in Cumbria
We're celebrating our first ever community hub with Chief Executive Officer Owen Sharp and British rock guitarist Sophie Lloyd cutting the ribbon at our official launch.
We're exited to announce that the doors are open to our very first Dogs Trust Hub at 3 Middlegate, Penrith, which launched with celebrations all round. The grand opening was followed by a fun-filled Community Open Day with local dog lovers taking part in a family-friendly treasure hunt, making snuffle mats for homeless hounds, and exploring a Dogs Trust Ambulance.
Through the hub, we can work with local people so that volunteers, families and dog lovers can come together to make a real difference for dogs within Cumbria and beyond. By creating this shared space, we'll be able to reach more families, inspire more volunteers, and help even more dogs find their forever homes.
We're welcoming everyone to the friendly community space which includes areas for training and education on dog welfare, support for anyone thinking of fostering or adopting, a kids’ corner for younger visitors, a dog food bank for local dog owners and a coffee with a cause area where locals can pop in for a cuppa and chat about all things canine.

Guitarist Sophie Lloyd, who has just finished a world tour with Machine Gun Kelly, adopted her dog Kobe from Dogs Trust Cumbria in 2024, and was delighted to return to the county to be part of the opening day celebrations alongside our CEO Owen Sharp.
It's fantastic to know that even more dog owners, future dog owners, and foster carers will be able to access support, advice, and services to help keep their dogs happy, healthy, and in loving homes.

The Hub in Penrith will support our work in Cumbria, rehoming dogs direct from foster homes. With no traditional rehoming centre in the county, the team relies solely on volunteer foster carers to care for dogs on a temporary basis in their home before they are adopted. Thanks to the fantastic support of foster carers, last year Dogs Trust Cumbria found forever homes for 100 dogs.
This welcoming space, in the heart of Penrith, is open to everyone who cares about dogs – owners, adopters, volunteers, families, and supporters.

The Community Hub is open Monday to Saturday: Monday and Tuesday 9-3, Wednesday and Thursday 11-3, Friday 9-3 and Saturday 9-4.
