Are you right for Millie?

Millie is an adorable five-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier looking for a loving family who will give her the time and patience she needs to settle in. She can live with calm secondary school-aged children who understand that she may need a little space while she builds her confidence. Millie is looking to be the only dog in the home and will need a home without cats or small furries. We have no history of her living around livestock. Although she'd prefer not to share her home with another dog, she's happy to meet dogs out on walks and often enjoys quietly plodding along beside them. She can sometimes get excited to say hello, although she's just as happy to ignore them and carry on with her adventure. If another dog barks at her, she can become a little worried, so calm walking companions suit her best. Millie is a sensitive girl who takes a few minutes to relax around new people. With a calm approach, a handful of tasty treats, and a little patience, you'll soon see her sweet personality begin to shine. She is housetrained and will let you know when she needs to go outside. Millie can be left for up to four hours, although this may need to be built up gradually as she settles into her new home. She also travels well in the boot of the car behind a dog guard, making it easy to take her along on new adventures. Millie could live in either a quiet or reasonably busy household, provided it's in a quieter area, as loud noises can make her feel uneasy.

Is Millie right for you?

Once you've earned Millie's trust, you'll discover just how affectionate she really is. She forms incredibly strong bonds with her people and loves nothing more than spending quality time with them. Give her a little time to come out of her shell, and she'll reward you with endless cuddles, unwavering loyalty, and plenty of love. She truly is a super sweet and loving girl. Millie is always happy to be rewarded with a tasty treat—she isn't fussy and will happily accept anything on offer! She's also recently discovered the joy of toys and is beginning to learn just how much fun playtime can be, making it lovely to watch her confidence continue to grow. She loves getting out for walks and exploring new places with her favourite people. While she's not a fan of water, she's always ready for an adventure on dry land! Millie generally walks nicely on the lead, although she can occasionally become a little strong when she's excited. At home, Millie settles beautifully and enjoys curling up on a soft dog bed for a well-earned snooze after a day of exploring. Her perfect day includes delicious food, a lovely walk, and plenty of cuddles with the people she loves. Millie is a clever girl who already knows "sit", "stay", "wait", and "go", and she'd love a family who will continue teaching her new tricks using positive, reward-based training. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a gentle heart and lots of love to give, Millie could be the perfect match.

How our rehoming process works

  1. 1

Create an account and fill out our application form

In our form you can tell us all about your home, your lifestyle and the kind of dogs you’re interested in. You won’t be applying for a specific dog, but you can add favourites to give us an idea of the dogs you like. We’ll use this information to find a great match for you.

  2. 2

    Choose a rehoming centre

We’ll also ask you to select a rehoming centre. The team at this centre will look after your application and assess you against all suitable dogs in their care. This doesn’t have to be your nearest centre, but you will need to travel there within a few days once we’ve found...

    We’ll review your application

We’ll review your application against the dogs in our care at your chosen centre. If we think we have the right dog for you, we’ll be in touch as soon as possible. If we don’t hear back from you, we will close your application for now, and you can reapply when you’re ready.

If we’ve found a dog who seems right for you, we’ll invite you to come and meet them at the rehoming centre.

Some of the dogs in our care will need to meet potential owners several times to get to know one another. This lets us see you’re compatible and gives you the chance to build a bond before making a commitment to give them a new home. By taking some time at the beginning to make sure everyone’s comfortable, an adoption is more likely to be successful.

We may also arrange a home visit with you, to see how your house will be set up and check that the garden (if you have one) is secure. This may not be necessary, though, especially if you’ve adopted from us before. Where you already have dogs, we may accept a reference from your vet as an alternative.

  6. 6

If we haven’t found the right match, we’ll continue the search together

If we haven’t found the right dog for you within three months, we’ll let you know your application is closed. We’ll invite you to apply again so we have up-to-date information about you, and we’ll keep looking.

We’ll support you to embark on a new life with your dog
