Are you right for Ruby?

Dazzling Ruby is on the search for her pawfect match and forever home! She is looking for a home where she can be the only dog and pet in the home, but she can have walking dog friends. Ruby would love adopters who are happy to continue working on her training with her and open the world up to her. At the centre, she warms up to female handlers quicker than males, so she would like any male visitors or household members to be introduced to her slowly. Ruby could live with children 12+ who are dog-savvy and able to read her body language and to give her space when needed. She would like her adopters to understand that she needs to have some time and space to herself when she is eating. Her ideal forever home would have a private garden where she can enjoy safely burning off energy off-lead. As Ruby is settling into her new home, she would like to have her leave hours kept to a minimum to begin with, and this time can be gradually built up to 2-4 hours.

Ruby is a bundle of joy and is easily won over by treats and fuss. She loves her people and spending time with them, as well as having walking friends. Ruby takes a little longer to warm up to males, but it doesn't take her long before she’s asking for cuddles from them after a short introduction. She’s a very loving dog that will make an excellent addition to her new home!

If we’ve found a dog who seems right for you, we’ll invite you to come and meet them at the rehoming centre.

Some of the dogs in our care will need to meet potential owners several times to get to know one another. This lets us see you’re compatible and gives you the chance to build a bond before making a commitment to give them a new home. By taking some time at the beginning to make sure everyone’s comfortable, an adoption is more likely to be successful.

We may also arrange a home visit with you, to see how your house will be set up and check that the garden (if you have one) is secure. This may not be necessary, though, especially if you’ve adopted from us before. Where you already have dogs, we may accept a reference from your vet as an alternative.

If we haven’t found the right match, we’ll continue the search together

If we haven’t found the right dog for you within three months, we’ll let you know your application is closed. We’ll invite you to apply again so we have up-to-date information about you, and we’ll keep looking.

We’ll support you to embark on a new life with your dog

When we’ve matched you with a dog, we’ll help you welcome them to your home. After adoption we’ll keep in touch to see how you and the dog are doing. If you need any advice or support, we’re just a phone call away.
