Are you right for Flump?

Meet Flump, our lovely but sensitive 3-year 10-month old Maltese x Poodle. Flump is a sweet and loving boy with the people he knows and has built a bond with. Flump needs a little guidance in life to help build his confidence, as he can he can find things like washing machines, hoovers and loud noises scary. Because of this, he is looking for a quiet adult-only home, with owners who are around most of the time and can offer him predictability and routine. Despite his fears, once Flump gets to know you he is a very loving and affectionate boy! Flump is looking to be the only dog, with no other pets or small animals. Flump can find it worrying having too many visitors to the house, so would prefer a home with minimal footfall so he can feel safe and secure. Flump is currently recovering from knee surgery in one of our wonderful foster homes and now is looking for a patient home of his own where he can relax and play with his toys!

Is Flump right for you?

Flump would prefer his new family to be home the majority of the time while he settles in as he does find being alone quite worrying! He will also need owners that are willing to give him his own space when he is eating and resting, as he has shown resource guarding behaviours surrounding these things. He will need lots of time to settle in and to gain confidence indoor and outdoors but you can do this by giving him a predictable and consistent routine. Flump walks very nicely on the lead and likes a couple of quiet strolls per day with his favourite human, though can find walks quite overwhelming. For this reason, Flump wouldn't mind spending a lot of time in his very own garden sun bathing and taking in all the sniffs! He is looking to be the only dog in the home but will be benefit from working on his dog social skills as he can be a little worried when meeting new dogs. Flump loves playing with toys, especially the squeaker from inside a toy, so get your ear defenders at the ready! Flump can struggle to settle in new environments initially, so will need understanding and patient owners willing to give him the time and space he needs to feel comfortable. Flump is working on wearing a muzzle for scary things such as veterinary handling and grooming. Being a noise sensitive chap, he would prefer a quieter, more rural area where he can chill without being around too much traffic. Once bonded, he is a wonderful boy and will make his new people very happy! Flump will make a wonderful addition to the home.

How our rehoming process works

  1. 1

Create an account and fill out our application form

In our form you can tell us all about your home, your lifestyle and the kind of dogs you’re interested in. You won’t be applying for a specific dog, but you can add favourites to give us an idea of the dogs you like. We’ll use this information to find a great match for you.

  2. 2

    Choose a rehoming centre

We’ll also ask you to select a rehoming centre. The team at this centre will look after your application and assess you against all suitable dogs in their care. This doesn’t have to be your nearest centre, but you will need to travel there within a few days once we’ve found...

    We’ll review your application

We’ll review your application against the dogs in our care at your chosen centre. If we think we have the right dog for you, we’ll be in touch as soon as possible. If we don’t hear back from you, we will close your application for now, and you can reapply when you’re ready.

If we’ve found a dog who seems right for you, we’ll invite you to come and meet them at the rehoming centre.

Some of the dogs in our care will need to meet potential owners several times to get to know one another. This lets us see you’re compatible and gives you the chance to build a bond before making a commitment to give them a new home. By taking some time at the beginning to make sure everyone’s comfortable, an adoption is more likely to be successful.

We may also arrange a home visit with you, to see how your house will be set up and check that the garden (if you have one) is secure. This may not be necessary, though, especially if you’ve adopted from us before. Where you already have dogs, we may accept a reference from your vet as an alternative.

If we haven’t found the right match, we’ll continue the search together

If we haven’t found the right dog for you within three months, we’ll let you know your application is closed. We’ll invite you to apply again so we have up-to-date information about you, and we’ll keep looking.
