Are you right for Tilly?

Tilly is a lovely 2-year-old Poodle cross Collie who is looking for a family where she can enjoy plenty of attention, exercise and fun. Tilly cannot live with another dog and will need a family who is happy to help her continue developing her social skills. She has a strong chase drive, so she cannot live with cats or small furries, and we don't have any history of how she would be around livestock. Tilly could live with secondary school-aged children and would be happy in a reasonably busy household. She is friendly towards visitors and enjoys meeting new people, so she could suit a family who has friends and family coming to visit. She can be left for up to four hours and would suit a family who can provide her with a good balance of exercise, companionship and time to relax. Tilly can be a little worried when travelling in the car, and may whine. She can also pull a little on lead at times, but generally walks nicely.

Is Tilly right for you?

Tilly is a gorgeous, people-loving girl who is friendly with everyone she meets. She absolutely loves being the centre of attention and would happily spend her day enjoying fuss and cuddles, including curling up on your lap whenever she gets the chance! She's also an active girl who loves getting out and about. Tilly enjoys walks where she can take her time sniffing and exploring, as well as having the opportunity to run around in secure enclosed fields. Once she has built a bond with someone, she has shown good recall off lead, although this will need to be built up gradually with her new family while she gets to know them. Tilly has a playful side too and absolutely loves her toys, particularly balls and rope toys. She could happily play fetch for ages and would love a family who can join in with her games. She's a clever girl who already knows her sit, wait and "bed" cues and will enjoy learning more with her new family. She's also a big fan of treats and isn't at all fussy, making her very willing to work for her rewards! Although Tilly enjoys being out and about, she can become overwhelmed in particularly busy areas where there are lots of people. She'll therefore benefit from having access to quieter walking routes where she can enjoy her adventures without feeling overwhelmed. She can also be worried by sudden or unfamiliar noises, so her new family will need to be patient and help her build confidence around these. Tilly is a real social butterfly and even enjoys a pamper at the groomers! If you're looking for a fun-loving companion who adores people, enjoys an active lifestyle and is always ready for a game of fetch, Tilly could be the girl for you.

How our rehoming process works

  1. 1

Create an account and fill out our application form

In our form you can tell us all about your home, your lifestyle and the kind of dogs you’re interested in. You won’t be applying for a specific dog, but you can add favourites to give us an idea of the dogs you like. We’ll use this information to find a great match for you.

  2. 2

    Choose a rehoming centre

We’ll also ask you to select a rehoming centre. The team at this centre will look after your application and assess you against all suitable dogs in their care. This doesn’t have to be your nearest centre, but you will need to travel there within a few days once we’ve found...

  3. 3

    We’ll review your application

We’ll review your application against the dogs in our care at your chosen centre. If we think we have the right dog for you, we’ll be in touch as soon as possible. If we don’t hear back from you, we will close your application for now, and you can reapply when you’re ready.

We’ll keep your application open for three months and keep looking for a match

If we’ve found a dog who seems right for you, we’ll invite you to come and meet them at the rehoming centre.

Some of the dogs in our care will need to meet potential owners several times to get to know one another. This lets us see you’re compatible and gives you the chance to build a bond before making a commitment to give them a new home. By taking some time at the beginning to make sure everyone’s comfortable, an adoption is more likely to be successful.

We may also arrange a home visit with you, to see how your house will be set up and check that the garden (if you have one) is secure. This may not be necessary, though, especially if you’ve adopted from us before. Where you already have dogs, we may accept a reference from your vet as an alternative.

  6. 6

If we haven’t found the right match, we’ll continue the search together

If we haven’t found the right dog for you within three months, we’ll let you know your application is closed. We’ll invite you to apply again so we have up-to-date information about you, and we’ll keep looking.

We’ll support you to embark on a new life with your dog

When we’ve matched you with a dog, we’ll help you welcome them to your home. After adoption we’ll keep in touch to see how you and the dog are doing. If you need any advice or support, we’re just a phone call away.
