Are you right for Floki?

Meet Floki, a handsome 4-year-old Collie cross Labrador with a fun-loving personality and plenty of energy to share. He's a friendly, affectionate boy who loves meeting new people and is always happy to make a new friend. Floki could live with secondary school-aged children and would be happy to share his home with another dog, as he has a positive history of living alongside canine companions. He cannot live with small furries, and we have no history of him around livestock. He is fully housetrained and will let you know when he needs to go outside. Floki can be left alone for up to four hours and travels well in the car, making him a great companion for adventures. He could settle into a reasonably busy household, although he prefers his walks away from crowded areas, as busy, overpopulated places can make him feel worried. Loud noises, such as fireworks, can also be unsettling for him. On walks, Floki is generally lovely on the lead. He may occasionally pull if something particularly interesting catches his nose, but he usually walks nicely and enjoys taking in all the exciting scents around him.

Is Floki right for you?

Floki is an active, adventurous dog who loves being outdoors and would make a fantastic walking or hiking companion. He would thrive with an owner who enjoys long walks and would love to continue his training. He has lots of potential to enjoy activities such as agility or other fun training classes that keep both his mind and body busy. Water is one of Floki's greatest loves, and he's never happier than when he's swimming. His favourite places to explore are the beach and the woods, where he can enjoy all the sights, smells and splashing opportunities. When it's time to relax, Floki enjoys curling up for a snooze in a cosy doughnut bed before he's ready for his next game. Fetch is his absolute favourite pastime, and he could happily play all day. He also enjoys a game of tug and loves spending quality time with his people. Food is another way to Floki's heart! He isn't fussy when it comes to treats, although cheese is definitely a firm favourite. He's already learned a great selection of cues, including sit, paw, down, wait, stay, and he has a reliable recall. Floki is a very affectionate boy who loves fuss, cuddles and being involved in family life. He also enjoys enrichment activities, especially using a snuffle mat—or, even better, searching for tasty treats hidden in the grass outside, his very own "nature's snuffle mat." If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate and adventurous companion who will happily join you on outdoor adventures before snuggling up at home, Floki could be the perfect match.

How our rehoming process works

  1. 1

Create an account and fill out our application form

In our form you can tell us all about your home, your lifestyle and the kind of dogs you’re interested in. You won’t be applying for a specific dog, but you can add favourites to give us an idea of the dogs you like. We’ll use this information to find a great match for you.

  2. 2

    Choose a rehoming centre

We’ll also ask you to select a rehoming centre. The team at this centre will look after your application and assess you against all suitable dogs in their care. This doesn’t have to be your nearest centre, but you will need to travel there within a few days once we’ve found...

    We’ll review your application

We’ll review your application against the dogs in our care at your chosen centre. If we think we have the right dog for you, we’ll be in touch as soon as possible. If we don’t hear back from you, we will close your application for now, and you can reapply when you’re ready.

We’ll keep your application open for three months and keep looking for a match

If we’ve found a dog who seems right for you, we’ll invite you to come and meet them at the rehoming centre.

Some of the dogs in our care will need to meet potential owners several times to get to know one another. This lets us see you’re compatible and gives you the chance to build a bond before making a commitment to give them a new home. By taking some time at the beginning to make sure everyone’s comfortable, an adoption is more likely to be successful.

We may also arrange a home visit with you, to see how your house will be set up and check that the garden (if you have one) is secure. This may not be necessary, though, especially if you’ve adopted from us before. Where you already have dogs, we may accept a reference from your vet as an alternative.

  6. 6

If we haven’t found the right match, we’ll continue the search together

If we haven’t found the right dog for you within three months, we’ll let you know your application is closed. We’ll invite you to apply again so we have up-to-date information about you, and we’ll keep looking.

We’ll support you to embark on a new life with your dog
