About Darlington
Manager Sue Embleton and her team would like to offer you a warm welcome to Dogs Trust Darlington.
Darlington Rehoming Centre first opened in May 1994, and since that time we have rescued, rehabilitated and rehomed over 18,000 dogs. A big thank you to all those who have rehomed a dog and who have helped in any capacity with our work.
Due to our rebuild taking place over the next year we cannot accommodate our usual 120 dogs, so we only have about 50-60 dogs onsite.
Rehoming from us
The dedicated team here are helping to care for hundreds of dogs every year, who all deserve a loving home for life. Interested in offering a dog in our care a forever home?
Find out how rehoming works.
New dogs arrive at our centre all the time — they will be available for rehoming once we’ve got to know them and identified what they need from their new home. Please visit the website regularly to see the dogs available in our centre.
Visiting us
Open days
We’re open for general browsing on Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday from 12 – 4pm. On these days you’ll be able to walk around the centre and see some of the dogs in our care. If you’re interested in a dog, we’ll be able to tell you more about them and help you apply via our online form. We hope to see you soon.
Rehoming info appointments
If you’re sure about adopting but haven’t found the right dog for you, make an appointment for a dedicated chat with one of our adoption advisors. You’ll get a 30-minute session with an experienced member of our team, either over the phone or in person at our rehoming centre. We’ll ask about your lifestyle and the home you can offer, discuss any suitable dogs in our care, and give you advice on finding your perfect match.
