Covid-19 update: Our rehoming centres in England will be closed to the public until lockdown lifts in early December. We’re still rehoming and taking in dogs, with increased social distancing measures in place to keep our staff and adopters safe.

Home from Home foster carers needed - at a Dogs Trust near you!

Have you got time and TLC to spare?

A new Dogs Trust survey has found that almost 60% of Brits regularly feel lonely. Dogs Trust is encouraging the public to consider fostering a dog on a temporary basis after the survey revealed three quarters of those polled believe having a dog around makes them feel less lonely. Furthermore, 95% of dog owning Brits admit interaction with their dog makes them happier. Following a turbulent 2016 for many, the charity believe they have the answer to a much happier and healthier 2017 as they launch their Home from Home scheme which offers the public a chance to volunteer to foster a dog in need on a temporary basis. Dogs Trust receive a number of dogs that just aren’t cut out for kennels – these may be puppies, older dogs, dogs with injuries/medical conditions or sometimes we just run out of space.

We are looking for foster carers that are happy to take dogs into their home until we are able to find a forever home for them. Foster carers play a huge role in a rescue dog’s life and by working with Dogs Trust, you can help us save more of them from unnecessary mistreatment or destruction. All families will receive full support and advice regarding the dog in their care and we will equip you with everything you need such as food and bedding. Any veterinary treatment is covered by Dogs Trust. Like us rescue dogs come in all shapes, sizes and with different personalities so whatever your experience level, we will endeavour to place the most appropriate dog into your care.
