COVID-19 info: Our rehoming centres are currently closed to the public but you can still adopt some of our dogs: take a look at their profiles to see which ones. We’ve set up a new rehoming process which includes social distancing measures to help keep staff and adopters safe.

Dogs Trust and Keep Britain Tidy have announced an extension to their successful dog fouling intervention, Walk This Way!

Dog fouling is seen as one of the biggest nuisances blighting public places in the UK, and whether you own a dog or not, dog poo affects everyone! Walk This Way aims to see dog owners take responsibility by picking up after their dogs and reducing the amount of dog mess being left in public spaces. We want to create cleaner and more enjoyable green spaces which everyone can enjoy.

Our programme’s pilot in 2017 saw six popular dog walking routes receive a makeover to feature more bins and clear signage to find them – which saw an impressive 38% decrease in dog fouling over the four week period. Similar to the pilot, the 2018 activity will local authorities work in partnership with Dogs Trust and Keep Britain Tidy in order for the selected dog-friendly walking routes to feature signage, maps and colour-coded routes which clearly mark the length of the walk and direct walkers to the nearest bins to dispose of their dogs’ waste along the way. The full report of which can be found here.

We are now looking to upscale our intervention in 18 areas across Great Britain and are looking for partners. If you’re a local authority or land manager committed to eliminating dog fouling instances in your community, email [email protected] for more information and request an expression of interest form. (Deadline for applications 22nd of June).
