Our faithful friends love nothing more than being by our sides, through thick and thin. But sometimes this can mean that they aren’t too keen on being without us.

Maybe you’re going into the office more often after a period of working from home or have a new dog in your household and want to help them adjust, making sure our four-legged friends are comfortable while being left alone is incredibly important.

So, whether your dog just needs a helping paw with learning how to cope alone, or you’re hoping to train your puppy to be left alone for the first time, our Happy Dog, Happy Home workshop will help you get there.

What you’ll learn at a Happy Dog, Happy Home workshop

At the session, you’ll learn tools and techniques that you can take away and put into practice with your pooch. These will help your dog adjust, reducing the chance they'll develop problem behaviours. We’ll cover:

  • what separation anxiety is and how to prevent it using positive training methods
  • how to teach a dog to settle down when left alone
  • how to find and create enrichment items for your dog for little or no cost.

Who are our workshops for?

If you have a dog or puppy — of any age — and want to help them adjust to time alone, these sessions are for you!

If your dog is already showing signs of separation anxiety then our sessions may not be suitable for them. We’d suggest contacting your vet for advice – they may advise you to get in touch with a dog behaviourist for specialist support.

Our workshops are for humans only. If you’re coming to an in-person session, please leave your pooch with a friend or family member.

How you'll learn at our workshop

Our workshops are run by our experienced and friendly Community Engagement Officers, and are either in-person or online, depending on the workshop you choose.

Each session will run for between 45 and 60 minutes, and there’ll be a chance to ask questions.

We’ll organise our face-to-face workshops with Covid-19 safety in mind. This includes restricting the number of places available.
