Love wins for Doris

This adorable little pooch is Doris.

Heartbreakingly, Doris was abandoned last winter in a crate. Cold and confused, she managed to escape from the crate, but was then faced with a very busy car park and no idea where she was.

Luckily, we managed to catch Doris before she was hit by a car and brought her into the safety of our care.

When Doris arrived at our Harefield rehoming centre, she was taken straight to our state-of-the-art vet clinic to get a thorough check-up. Unfortunately, not only was she distressed and confused from her ordeal, but our vet also discovered her skin was red raw with terrible mange.

After receiving the love, care, and daily treatment she needed to get back on her paws, Doris was ready to start the search for her forever home. That’s when Lucy and Kate came across her profile and decided to welcome her into their life.

Lucy says,

“Surprisingly, considering her difficult start in life, she's such a confident little girl and made herself at home quickly.

She wasn’t a big fan of walks at first, always stopping and sitting down in protest. She was also scared of particularly big dogs.

Now she loves a walk and has to say hello to every dog she meets!”

Doris has now firmly settled into her new home and couldn’t be happier with her new family. She loves long walks in the countryside, stealing her human’s slippers and snuggling up with her mums on the sofa.
