We respond to latest Track Injury and Retirement Data from Greyhound Board of Great Britain (GBGB)
We welcome the publication of the GBGB 2018 Track Injury and Retirement data, which is another step towards an open and transparent greyhound racing industry.
Whilst the overall percentage of racing greyhounds put to sleep or passing away remains consistent, we feel that that this is still too many.
We will continue to work with the industry via the Greyhound Forum to push for improvement to protect greyhound welfare both on and off the track as well as into their retirement.
The need for additional funding is also paramount and we are calling for a statutory levy to require all bookmakers to contribute to the welfare of the greyhounds who are so critical to this industry.
We currently have 40 greyhounds at Dogs Trust looking for their forever homes. Meet our greyhounds.
