Our telephone fundraising
Discover all there is to know about our telephone fundraising.

Telephone fundraising is an essential and highly effective part of our fundraising programme. It enables our fundraisers to provide people with an opportunity to learn about the work we do, as well as find us new supporters.
As a publicly supported charity receiving no government funding, we’re very grateful to all our supporters. Your donations help us continue to provide life-changing care and forever homes for the thousands of dogs who come through our doors each year.
We ensure all our fundraising representatives comply with all guidance set out by the CIOF and the Fundraising Regulator and regularly assess fundraiser training to ensure the highest possible standards.

What our fundraisers will ask for
Our fundraisers will ask:
- For an ongoing donation paid monthly via Direct Debit to our Sponsor A Dog scheme. Direct Debit is the safest way for our fundraisers to set up regular gifts, protecting you and your money by means of the Direct Debit Guarantee.
- If you are happy to sign up to a regular gift, we will ask for your bank’s sort code and your account number to set up the Direct Debit. We never ask for your 16 digit card number or your 3 digit security code.
We appreciate people may wish to donate in ways other than Direct Debit and so please feel free to contact us on 020 7837 0006 and our customer services team will be happy to help you, or donate online below.
We are extremely grateful for all donations we receive.
Why we do telephone fundraising
We receive no government funding and rely completely on supporter donations to care for around 11,000 dogs each year. Telephone fundraising is a cost-effective method of bringing new supporters to our cause.
Without this, we could not continue our work to help stray and abandoned dogs across the UK.
Telephone fundraising also allows us to raise awareness of our work. We expect the highest standards from all our representatives and are committed to ensuring all our interactions with the public are friendly, positive and professional.
If you feel you have experienced an interaction that was not up to our high standards, please email our fundraising team or call us on 020 7837 0006.
Dogs Trust is a member of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising and the Fundraising Regulator and adheres to their Code of Conduct.
What you’ll get when you sign up
When you sign up to our Sponsor A Dog scheme with one of our telephone fundraisers, they will either confirm with you on the call which dog you would like to sponsor or they will arrange for you to be sent a leaflet detailing all the dogs you can sponsor, for you to choose at your leisure.
You will then receive your welcome pack in the post with your dog’s information, and confirmation of your first payment date, along with your Direct Debit Guarantee.
What telephone fundraising costs us
We work with the fundraising organisation NTT, who carry out all our telephone fundraising. We require all our fundraisers to be paid a living wage salary, with small incentives for performance. We do not operate on commission.
The cost of all the fundraising is taken from our annual pre-allocated fundraising budget and as such, 100% of your donation is received by Dogs Trust directly, and the fundraising agency do not receive any of your donation.

We will never use your personal information without consent, and will never rent, swap or sell your data to other organisations.
