Underdogs like Hank are still waiting

Will you back them all the way to a forever home?

Nearly one in four of the dogs in our care are underdogs, which means they’ve been waiting for a forever home for over six months – sometimes even years. As dogs stay longer, the costs for their care continue to increase.

Bronte the underdog patiently waits for a forever home

Bronte

472 days of waiting...

Beautiful Brontë is a four-year-old Crossbreed who was found as a stray. Left to fend for herself, she never had the chance to meet and play with other dogs, so she gets very anxious around them. That’s made it hard for her to find a suitable home – she’s now been waiting for over a year.

Your kindness means she can keep getting the tailored behavioural training she needs to feel more confident around other dogs, such as gradual introductions at a distance, and learning to manage her emotions. Brontë has worked really hard in her training sessions, making progress and continuing to show her playful personality. But after everything she’s been through, she still has a way to go. With you by their side, Dogs Trust will love her for as long as it takes.

Your gift could help fund behavioural training that gives underdogs like Bronte the best chance to find a forever home.

Angel the underdog waits patiently for a forever home

Angel

1,235 days of waiting...

Imagine how it feels to watch hundreds of people pass by your kennel over almost three and a half years, hardly ever giving you a second look.

Poor Angel, a nine-year-old American Bulldog, has been waiting far too long for someone to take her home. More than 19,000 people have applied to her centre to rehome dogs, but nobody seems to want Angel. She’s a shy girl who finds it harder to make friends with new people or other dogs, but once she’s comfortable, she’s a brilliant sofa companion.

Angel’s been at Dogs Trust so long that they wanted to make sure she wasn’t missing out on home comforts. With your support, she can continue living with a foster carer, who helps her live her best life while she waits for a forever home. She still gets a bit spooked by noises, but she’s so loving with her favourite people. I can’t wait until she finds that special someone to love her back. With your support, shy dogs like

Angel can gain confidence and enjoy home comforts with a foster carer, while they wait for a new home.

Flash the underdog waits patiently for a forever home

Flash

1,127 days of waiting

As Flash kept waiting and waiting to be noticed, the team decided he deserved a special day for potential adopters to meet him and see how wonderful he is. After lots of planning and getting Flash spruced, ready and excited to greet his guests, everyone was heartbroken for him when no one turned up.

Nine-year-old Lurcher Flash has been constantly overlooked through no fault of his own for more than three years now. He’s a joy to be around, with no complex needs – it’s a mystery to everyone why he’s not found his forever home yet.

But your gift means that he’ll always feel loved with Dogs Trust. He adores playing with his squeaky toys, learning new tricks and lounging in the sun. The team even threw him a birthday party, full of his favourite treats and games. Hopefully this cheered him up and he went to sleep that night feeling a little more loved.

Your gift could make every underdog feel like, no matter how long they have to wait.

Underdogs need your support to help them overcome their challenges and feel happy and healthy, no matter how long it takes. Because without you, underdogs like Hank, Brontë, Angel and Flash might have nowhere else to go.

Thank you.
