Lola Lou was found alone in an empty flat, abandoned with little food, no water and no one to comfort her. For days, she waited by the door, hoping her owner would return. But no one came.

The flat was in a dreadful state, and Lola Lou had been left behind with a note that read “Everything in this flat I no longer want.” Despite this heartbreaking neglect, Lola Lou still had so much love to give.

Thankfully, we were able to place her in a loving foster home, where she could begin to heal and rediscover the comfort and affection she had been denied.

This Christmas, too many dogs will face the same heartbreak. Left frightened, confused and desperately longing for the warmth of a safe and loving home, they have nowhere else to turn.

Every Christmas, around 100 abandoned dogs arrive at our rehoming centres, and this number only continues to rise. In the weeks after Christmas, even more stray and abandoned dogs will come through our doors, each with their own story of loss and trauma. Without your help, we simply can’t be there for them all.
