Gladys the Greyhound relaxing on a sofa

Doesn’t every dog deserve a forever home?

Gladys lost her home. Your gift will help more dogs find their home.

Have you ever shared that special bond with a pet? A best friend who is by your side, providing comfort and love. What would you do if you had no other choice but to give them up?

That was the heartbreaking reality that Gladys’ owners had to face, when their health sadly declined. After finding herself at a rescue centre at a young age, Gladys was adopted by a family. Together, they shared many years of inseparable companionship. And Gladys’ had enjoyed a safe, loving home, filled with treats and little luxuries.

But, the life that Glady’s had known for so long was all about to change. Wanting the best for their beloved companion, Glady’s owners found the Canine Care Card service. Through this scheme, when a dog’s owner becomes seriously ill, or sadly passes away, we take them until we can find them a new home.

Please will you give a gift today and be there for a dog who has lost their best friend.

With her life suddenly turned upside down, Gladys began the search for love again at a Dogs Trust centre. However, being elderly, and wary of other dogs, her carers decided it was the best decision for her to go into a foster home. There, she could enjoy the comforts she was used to, whilst she waited for her forever-family.

Just £8 will buy a cosy blanket to provide home comforts when they’re needed most.

And, even though they were sadly unable to look after her anymore, Gladys’ previous owners kept in touch with Dogs Trust. Her new foster home was able to provide updates on how she was settling into her new life – giving them reassurance and peace of mind. They had made right decision for Gladys, however heartbreaking for them.

Though we will never replace the bond that Gladys and her owners had, after so many years of love, we believe, as I’m sure you do – that dogs like Gladys deserve a second chance at a forever home.

Sadly, without our services many dogs may end up in local pounds where they are at risk of being put to sleep. Especially those who are older. But at Dogs Trust we never put a healthy dog down.

And this is why we need you. You can help us make sure that dogs like Gladys are cared for, and support is provided to owners who face this heartbreaking decision. One, that I am sure you will agree – we all hope we never have to make.
Your donation will make sure that dogs like Gladys, who have lost everything, have a place to go and home comforts to enjoy, whilst they wait for their forever home.
