Baxter the Mastiff Cross enjoys a walk in the park with his owner

No one should have to choose between a home and their best friend.

Thousands of dogs risk losing their owners. Can you help keep them together?

With rising costs and increasing home evictions as a result, we estimate that over 70,000 people and their pets are facing homelessness today.

When Sandra lost her job during Covid and rent arrears began piling up, she did everything she could to keep a roof over her and Baxter’s heads. But with the cost of living spiralling, one missed payment could have meant eviction. And when Baxter needed urgent vet care, Sandra was left facing an impossible choice. One that no loving dog owner should ever have to make.

No one should have to choose between a roof over their head and their best friend. But right now, thousands of dog owners are being forced to do just that.

Only 10% of homelessness services in the UK are accepting dogs, which means thousands of dogs and their owners have nowhere to go if they lose their home. More people than ever are turning to Dogs Trust for help, and this is why your support is so desperately needed.

With your help, our free endorsement scheme (part of our Together Through Homelessness initiative) is equipping more and more homelessness services to welcome dogs – from implementing tailored policies, to providing doggy essentials and behaviour resources. And once a service is endorsed, we make sure every dog with the service can receive free vet care.

Dogs like Baxter shouldn’t have to suffer simply because their owners have fallen on hard times, through no fault of their own. Over 250,000 households are facing homelessness, and they desperately need your support today.

Your gift could be the difference between a dog staying with their loving owner, or being torn away from them forever. Please, if you can, donate today and help keep best friends together.

Donations will go towards all areas of Dogs Trust's work and help care for dogs where the need is greatest.
