Give hope to dog owners experiencing homelessness this Christmas

Many dog owners experiencing homelessness must choose between a safe place to sleep and their dog. That’s because homelessness services don’t usually accept pets.

On Together Through Homelessness, we work to support dog owners so they can stay with their faithful friend.

Many of us can't imagine the holidays without our furry companions by our side. But for over 300,000 people experiencing homelessness this Christmas, their dog might be their only family.

That's why we are on a mission to deliver festive cheer through our Christmas parcel service – every winter we deliver parcels filled with warm dog coats, cozy toys, and yummy treats to homelessness services across the country that support dog owners!

Last year, we delivered Christmas parcels to nearly 2000 dogs at over 200 homelessness services across the UK, but with rising costs and homelessness, this year's is even more crucial.

As one dog owner shared, "Seeing my dog play with the toys, and giving him a treat was great. It meant a lot to be included and thought of."

We couldn’t run this service without your generous support! A donation can make a real difference in the lives of dog owners experiencing homelessness. By contributing to the Christmas parcel service, you're helping to ensure that these people and their loyal companions have a happier and more comfortable holiday season.

You can also donate items via our amazon wish list until 22nd October:

Help dogs and their owners like Paul and Blake

Paul and his pooch Blake were staying in a dog-friendly hostel until the pandemic hit. Then they had to move into a hotel as part of the government’s ‘Everyone In’ scheme. We’ve been supporting the pair through our vet scheme and Christmas parcels.

Paul says: “I have found living in the hotel room very difficult and isolating. I genuinely don’t think I would have been able to cope without Blake. He is the only constant in my life – he’s my best friend and he perks me up every day. I don’t get lonely because I have him.

“It’s a huge relief knowing that if Blake gets ill, I won’t need to worry about paying the bills. I wouldn’t be able to afford it without you! It’s also been lovely to receive parcels with food, a winter coat and other dog treats.”
