Are you right for Fisher?

Fisher is a fun-loving, energetic crossbreed, aged approximately one-years-old. He's looking for a calm, understanding home with a consistent routine, where he can truly thrive. Found as a stray, we don’t know much about his past, but we’ve spent time getting to know what helps him feel safe and happy. He enjoys making new friends but can become easily overwhelmed if there’s too much hands-on interaction too soon, so he’ll need a home where people can respect his space and let him set the pace. Because of this, we’re looking for a home with older, secondary school-aged children who are experienced with dogs and can understand his body language. Fisher will need to be the only pet at home, and he’d really benefit from continuing to build his social skills around other dogs when out on walks. A quieter home on the edge of a city or in a small town, ideally with a secure garden, would suit him perfectly.

Is Fisher right for you?

Once you get to know Fisher, you’ll see just what a sweet, playful character he is. He’s a real fan of soft squeaky toys—he’ll happily play a gentle game of tug before taking the toy away to amuse himself, and he’ll willingly swap it for another toy or treat. He has a gentle, affectionate side that grows stronger as he builds trust, and he enjoys fusses when he’s feeling comfortable and relaxed. Fisher loves his food and really appreciates a long-lasting chew, but he much prefers to enjoy his treats in peace, so a quiet spot in the home where he can settle down undisturbed would be ideal. He’s shown some mild stress in the car but travels reasonably well, and although he can be unsure around traffic, he copes well enough to reach quieter walking routes. Fisher can be a little unsure when it comes to having his harness put on—especially when excited—but with time and patience, this has already improved. With a consistent routine, plenty of encouragement, and a family who’ll give him the time he needs, Fisher will make a rewarding and entertaining companion.
