Abandoned Dog Left Tied to Rehoming Centre Gates

Fido from Dogs Trust Salisbury is looking for his forever home

Staff at Dogs Trust Salisbury are appealing for a home for a 7 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier who was found tied to the rehoming centre's gates on the morning of the centre's Open Day.

The abandoned pooch was taken in by the team at Dogs Trust Salisbury and, after inspection by the vet team, it was discovered that he is suffering from cataracts, which have left him partially blind. He is now undergoing further tests to fully assess the severity of the condition.

As he was found at the centre during the annual Festival of Fido event which helped to promoted responsible dog ownership, staff have named him Fido and are now hoping a responsible dog lover will be able to give him the forever home he deserves.

Lucy Hooper, Supporter Relations Officer at Dogs Trust Salisbury, comments:

"Owning a dog is a huge responsibility and one that shouldn't be taken lightly. Our centre looks after hundreds of unwanted dogs each year but we were still so shocked to see that someone could just abandon a dog in this way. Luckily, Fido was quickly spotted by staff and, after some TLC, he is already getting back to his bouncy self."

"Fido is a friendly boy who gets on well with other dogs, loves his toys and enjoys a good game of fetch. He is happiest when on walks so would like an active owner who he could enjoy plenty of outdoor playtime with. Whilst we are unsure why Fido ended up on our doorstep, we hope he can now find the ‘furry tail' ending he well and truly deserves."
