Rehoming Centres

Home from Home Foster and Adoption Advisor - Darlington

This role will provide care in the homes of volunteers for dogs that will benefit from short term foster care, such as dogs who are kennel stressed, bitches with puppies, elderly dogs and dogs with medical conditions. The successful candidate will be able to work with minimum supervision on their own initiative, have experience in selecting and handling dogs and the complexities involved in matching dogs to potential adopters. The candidate should have excellent communication skills, a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, databases, and the use of internet and web media. Part of this role involves visiting foster carers and transporting dogs across the surrounding areas, so candidates should have a full UK, manual driving license and experience of driving as part of a previous role. The successful applicant will be required to undergo extensive training during the first 6 months, as well as carrying out the duties of the Canine Carer role, to gain the hands-on experience required for this post.

Campaigns Officer - Dogs Trust Ballymena

We are looking for an organised and confident person to join the campaigns team in Northern Ireland as Campaigns Officer. Primarily through community events and roadshows, the Campaigns Officer will help to deliver a regional approach to high profile campaigns on behalf of Dogs Trust, designed to end the destruction of healthy dogs and support responsible dog ownership. The successful candidate will need to have an extremely proactive, positive and upbeat attitude. They will feel happy to work on their own and to juggle a number of very different priorities in order to support the Campaigns team. Strong communication skills and excellent organisational and interpersonal skills are essential. An ability to oversee administrative systems and a willingness to learn new IT and database systems is also required.

Grounds/Maintenance Operative - Dogs Trust Kenilworth

This is an essential role in ensuring the smooth running of the Rehoming Centre, managing the day-to-day issues and breakdowns that occur in this busy centre. The role is practical, fast-paced and physical, working outdoors in all weathers maintaining the extensive grounds. You will need a problem solving attitude along with the ability to design and build innovative solutions to challenges. You will be an excellent communicator and have empathy towards the dogs in the centre and a commitment to the aims of Dogs Trust.

WORKING TIMES: 8:15 - 17:15

Canine Carer - Dogs Trust Kenilworth

We’re looking a passionate and dynamic individual to join our team of Canine Carers to work in our busy rehoming centre. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator with a positive, upbeat attitude who is committed to the aims and objectives of Dogs Trust. Your duties will include preparation of food, exercising, administering medicine and grooming the dogs as instructed. Keeping a high standard of cleanliness of all areas the dogs use is also an important part of the role. The successful candidate will also interact with the general public as they come into the Centre. A strong team player, you must have lots of energy, the ability to be flexible and show empathy to people and animals. A current, clean, manual driving licence with access to a car and a good level of fitness are essential.

WORKING TIMES: 8:15 - 17:15
DAYS OF WORK: Four week Rolling rota, with every other weekend. Days off midweek to compensate.

Assistant Donation Centre/ Warehouse Manager - Maidstone, Kent

Following investment in a new Donation Centre facility at Farleigh Hill, Tovil, Maidstone in Kent due to open mid/late summer, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Donation Centre/Warehouse Manager, to join the Retail Management Team at Dogs Trust. The post holder will be assisting the Donation Centre Manager in ensuring the efficient sorting and distribution of all stock to maximise income from donations directly into the donation centre and re-allocating stock from shops across the area. You will also be responsible for the retail element of the Donation Centre, selling discounted clothing, bric a brac, electricals and furniture to achieve sales targets. Working Times: 9am - 5pm Days of Work: Part time 28 hours per week (4 days), including weekend working.

The Donation Centre in Maidstone that will not only sell a range of donated clothing and furniture, but will help move stock into the shops. This will help us generate significantly more income to help finance our cause. The successful candidate will need a positive and helpful attitude to be an ambassador for Dogs Trust, excellent customer service skills and respect for people’s property and donations and a full driving licence and a willingness to travel extensively within, and sometimes outside, the area, covering Kent, Essex, up to Norfolk and across to North London and Hertfordshire.
