For confidentially reasons (to protect both the foster carer and the client) we are unable to let the client have contact with her pet whilst in foster care. However, we are aware how important it is for both the client and her family to receive pictures and updates during the placement. This is evident from the notes we receive from clients.

Thank you so much for your kindness, swift response and the fabulous service you provide. The service is a fantastic idea which I didn’t even know about until I needed it immediately! Thank you so much for enabling Jack to stay with us once we have been housed. It is a huge relief at this very stressful time to know Jack is safe, happy and loved. Love Jeanette
This is just a little note to say thank you for looking after me, when my family couldn’t. If it wasn’t for you I would have had to be rehomed permanently and I wouldn’t have seen my family again. That would have been very sad for me, Amber, Poppy and Nicola as they love me very much.

Dogs in homes with domestic violence are often targets of abuse. In several recent studies of women entering refuges for protection against domestic violence, nearly half reported that their pets had been threatened, injured, or killed by their partners. Dogs Trust is a member of the The LINKS Group, a coalition to develop understanding of the link between domestic violence and mistreatment of animals as well as the problems faced by victims of domestic violence.
