Salisbury Centre

We are in desperate need of part-time volunteers to help us operate our local Charity Shop.

Do you have a few spare hours each week? Would like to join our small, but very friendly team? We would love to hear from you!

If you would be interested in lending a hand, please contact our manager, Karen Griffiths, on 01722 321415. She can explain more about how your assistance will help us raise much-needed pounds for hounds!

Welcome to Dogs Trust Salisbury!

If you are thinking about getting a new doggy addition for your family you have come to the right place!

We aim to cater for each dog’s specific needs, so no-one who visits the centre is ever deemed ‘unsuitable’ to adopt. Each dog we have in our care needs something different from a new home so we try to match the dog to the right owner and their home environment. This means that if you have young children, no garden or are simply not as mobile as you once were, there will be a suitable dog waiting for you!

If you have a general enquiry you can email us:

Or call us: 01980 629 634

Please note the telephones are not always answered however if you leave a message someone will call you back.

Our Dogs

We often have dogs in our care who simply need a little more help, we call these our Patchwork dogs. They might have a combination of behavioural and training needs that, together, make a patchwork of requirements for their new home and family. They are usually housed in a quieter kennel block as daily viewing from too many visitors can sometimes upset them so please do ask for more information at Reception when you visit the centre.

At Salisbury we are also very lucky to have The Sanctuary. This is a fantastic facility where we can keep dogs on a long term basis if they cannot be re-homed. The dogs have heated kennels, large fields to play in but most importantly, doggie pals!

Our Puppies

If you are thinking about adopting a puppy please think long and hard because they can be real little rascals!

They are babies after all and need you to invest A LOT of time and effort in them, in order to make them into the well trained pooch that you imagine they will be.

Have a quick read of our Puppy info and then if you seriously think you have the time and patience for one of our bundles of fun, then pop into the centre to register with us.

And don’t forget, we often have the mum at the centre too who will also be available for adoption, just in case you decided a pup isn’t right for you!

I can’t adopt a dog but can I still help?

The answer to this question is a HUGE YES!!!

There are a few different ways you can get involved. The main one is to become a volunteer. We have many varying volunteer positions available and for some of them you don’t even have to come into contact with dogs! For example we take on Receptionists, Maintenance people, shop helpers and Fundraisers so if you are allergic to or are scared of dogs but love them from afar, you can still get involved!

Volunteering can also help you get your doggie fix if you are unable to formally adopt a dog. You could sign up to be a dog walker, foster carer or even consider supporting a Sponsor dog

To sponsor a dog you don’t even need to leave your house! You can sign up online from the comfort of your own sofa! Simply choose your favourite from the list here, and then your chosen dog will then send you gifts, cards and updates three times a year!

(This is also brilliant for kiddies if they are desperate for a dog but as a family you haven’t got the time for a real one!)

Other ways to help

We always welcome donations, so if you are having a clear out just remember that we accept anything! From bric-a-brac, clothes and electricals for the charity shop, to newspapers, dogs toys and food for the rehoming centre - it's all welcome!

Do you ever wonder who would care for your dog should something happen to you?

Our Supporter Relations Officer, Lucy Hooper, can let you know about our free Canine Care Card Scheme, to make sure your four-legged friend’s future is safe.

She can also help with information about leaving a gift in your will or donating in memory of a loved one.

Lucy is here to spread the word about the work we do at Dogs Trust.  She is very happy to come out and talk to groups or can arrange a tour and talk at the newly refurbished rehoming centre.

She also runs some local fundraising events for Dogs Trust Salisbury.

Contact Lucy on 01980 629853 or email
