At Dogs Trust Bridgend, we have 40 kennels, and can care for around 80 dogs at any time. We have 2 large enclosed fields, where the dogs can burn some energy and play with some friends during an off-lead run, a training barn, 2 exercise areas filled with fun areas to explore, and on site vet suite.
We have a team of 24 staff, and an excellent group of dedicated volunteers who help with tasks from dog-walking to fundraising. We are located on an old farm site near the village of Pen-y-Fai, surrounded with lots of lovely rural walks for the dogs in our care to enjoy, while they are waiting for their new homes.

Local recycling charity supports Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre in Bridgend
Rhondda based recycling and re-use social enterprise toogoodtowaste lends their support to Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre in Bridgend after they dropped off ten large bags full of duvets and bedding last week for the dogs in their care at the centre.
In addition to the free collection service they offer to residents of Rhondda Cynon Taf toogoodtowaste are now also offering an Ethical House Clearance Service where they will clear all unwanted items in the property and work in partnership with other charities and community enterprises to maximise the number of items re used. toogoodtowaste has been supported by the European Regional Development Fund, South East Wales Community Economic Development (SEWCED) Programme. Through this additional service they receive a number of textiles which they were then able to provide to the Rehoming Centre.
Siôn Davies, Ethical House Clearance Co-ordinator stated that: “It was a genuine pleasure to be able to provide Dogs Trust with some of our textiles to give additional warmth and comfort to the dogs in their care.”
Alison Creaton, Assistant Manager at Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre Bridgend was grateful of the donation and added: “We are always in need of bedding, toys and unwanted food. Any donations will be greatly appreciated.”
Shaun England, General Manager at toogoodtowaste, added: “It’s very important that charities are able to work in partnership together to help and assist the communities and sectors we serve.”
toogoodtowaste has 2 charity shops, one in Ynyshir and one in Aberdare which are open to the public, any donations of furniture is greatly needed. If you would like more information on their services please contact them on 01443 680090 or visit their website www.toogoodtowaste.co.uk.
We are really excited to announce that following our online and charity shop sales of the clothing and personal items of singer, actor, author and all round entertainer, John Barrowman, we have raised £6,955.88 for the dogs in our centre! As many of you will know John is a huge supporter of Dogs Trust and kindly opened the shop in September last year. We're so grateful to him for his amazing support!
As he said on his website when we launched the sale:
"It's no secret to anyone who knows me that two of my favourite things are shopping and supporting Dogs Trust. After a recent spring-cleaning, I donated lots of stuff to the new Cowbridge shop, including posters, watches and boxes of clothing. I hope you'll pay a visit and share in my favourite things."

Dogs Needing Homes
Dog of the week: Bizzie
Bouncer is a 3 year old Crossbreed. Bouncer is a big boy, with a big heart and a lot of love to give to the right person. He is nervous with new people, and will take his time to get to know you, but is really worth the effort, he will be very caring and loyal. He is active, and really enjoys his walks. He would like to find an adult only home with an owner who is used to large breeds. He is housetrained, and fine to be left alone for a few hours.
If you can offer Bouncer, or any of our other dogs a loving home, please call us on 01656 725219, or pop in to Dogs Trust Bridgend – we are open 12-4, every day except Monday. You can also see Bouncer and some of his friends on the website at www.dogstrust.org.uk, or for regular updates of our dogs, follow us on Twitter @DT_Bridgend
Can you help?
We often have dogs that are under socialised, nervous and lack confidence. Most importantly - many of the dogs who come into our care also have severe separation issues.
These factors make these dogs quite difficult to rehome.
However, what they really need is a home with another dog in. In fact we urgently need dogs already in a home to help assist us in getting these needy dogs settled and into a home too! This really can make a massive difference!
However, please note - the dog in the home would need to be calm and well adjusted in order to help the new dog settle in!
