Bridgend Centre

The Centre

At Dogs Trust Bridgend, we have 40 kennels, and can care for around 80 dogs at any time. We have 2 large enclosed fields, where the dogs can burn some energy and play with some friends during an off-lead run, a training barn, 2 exercise areas filled with fun areas to explore, and on site vet suite.

We have a team of 24 staff, and an excellent group of dedicated volunteers who help with tasks from dog-walking to fundraising. We are located on an old farm site near the village of Pen-y-Fai, surrounded with lots of lovely rural walks for the dogs in our care to enjoy, while they are waiting for their new homes.

Dog of the week:

Moby

Moby is a 10 week old Jack Russell. He is a bright, happy little lad, although sometimes just a little reserved – he needs his confidence building in a good home.

He is a busy puppy, and will need lots of exercise, and all-important socialising while he is growing and learning his manners.

He would suit someone who has brought up terrier type dogs before, and he can live with children over the age of 6. All puppies rehomed from Dogs Trust must be brought along to a 10 week course of training classes, which is a brilliant way to bond and get off to a good start, the price of which is included in the adoption fee.

If you are able to offer Moby a home, pleas call us on 01656 725219, or pop into Dogs Trust, Court Colman, Pen-y-fai, Bridgend, CF31 4NG – we are open 12-4pm, every day except Monday.

Due to our rehoming procedures, it is best for anyone looking to give a dog a home to visit the centre to register first as we cannot reserve a dog over the phone.

***We are also appealing for donations of towels and blankets, our stock has run very low in the wet and cold weather – anything you can spare would be well used and greatly appreciated! Just drop into the centre. Thank you.***

Can you help?

We often have dogs that are under socialised, nervous and lack confidence. Most importantly - many of the dogs who come into our care also have severe separation issues.
These factors make these dogs quite difficult to rehome.

However, what they really need is a home with another dog in. In fact we urgently need dogs already in a home to help assist us in getting these needy dogs settled and into a home too! This really can make a massive difference!

However, please note - the dog in the home would need to be calm and well adjusted in order to help the new dog settle in!

Education

We believe that educating the dog owners of tomorrow can help reduce the problem of stray dogs and mean that more dogs will find a home for life from the word go. There are loads of teacher resources and fun games on www.learnwithdogs.org.uk, but our Education Officer Claire Kendrick is also available to run FREE workshops for schools throughout Wales, and can conduct tours of the centre.
