Dogs Trust Leeds makes urgent rehoming appeal
Sadly it seems the phrase ‘A dog is for life not just for Christmas®’ which Dogs Trust created 30 years ago is not being heeded as the charity’s Rehoming Centre on York Road is knee-deep in abandoned puppies, having taken in 25 in the last two weeks alone.
Some have come in on their own like 11 week old crossbreed Ash (below left), who was found in a burnt out car just a few days ago. Others have been born at the Rehoming Centre, like these cuties (below right) whose mother was found in a garden and brought to Dogs Trust just days before giving birth.
Amanda Sands Dogs Trust Leeds Rehoming Centre Manager says:
“We’ve got puppies of all shapes and sizes which we’re desperate to find fab new homes for. Anyone interested should come along to the Rehoming Centre and see if we’ve got the perfect puppy for them”.
Due to the increasing numbers of puppies being found, Dogs Trust Leeds now offer puppy presentations to anyone considering taking on a puppy from them. They are hoping ensure people are realistic about what they’re taking on and also show how rewarding rehoming a puppy can be.
Dogs Trust is the UK’s largest dog welfare charity with 17 Rehoming Centres across the UK. Dogs Trust cares for over 16,000 stray and abandoned dogs every year.
