DOGS TRUST SEEKS NEW HOME FOR VETERAN DOG VEGAR

- Vegar the Staffie is looking for retirement home -

This week the UK’s largest dog welfare charity, Dogs Trust is looking for a new home for one extra special resident.

Vegar (pictured) is an affectionate, handsome and somewhat regal looking Staffordshire Bull Terrier. He is eight years old and currently based at Dogs Trust Harefield in west London where through no fault of has had to undergo some major surgery.

Vegar is very affectionate and adores a good cuddle, along with other home comforts such as sleeping on the couch and watching TV. He is ideally looking for the quiet life, a family environment where he can relax, play and just potter; the perfect all-round retirement package.

Now, here's the ‘science bit’. Vegar recently had a Grade III mast cell tumour removed however vets have advised that it is likely to spread. This is a serious condition in dogs, which means that the average life expectancy of a dog with high-grade mast cell tumours is approximately six to 12 months. Naturally, there could be a small chance that Vegar could live longer however time is ticking.

Dogs Trust is looking for a new home as quickly as possible for Vegar. Vegar will naturally go home as a full foster dog, which means his new owners will not have to worry about any future vet bills.

For those of you considering rehoming a rescue dog, don’t be put off by Staffordshire Bull Terriers. Strangely enough these dogs, including Vegar, are often very docile and with the right training can make extremely loving canine companions.

Dogs Trust is the UK’s largest dog welfare charity, caring for over 16,000 stray or abandoned dogs through its network of 17 Rehoming Centres across the UK.
