Dogs Trust Doris the desk-dweller
Dogs Trust Darlington are desperately looking for a home for a cheeky English Bull Terrier called Doris. The deaf 3 yr old has been playing the fool at the centre in Sadberge for a year and has become a firm favourite amongst staff - but the ‘office dog’ job is no replacement for a real home.
Cheeky clown Doris often helps out at Reception, sleeps on desks and drinks out of toilets – but she’s no fool when it comes to clever tricks. Despite being deaf, she has learned doggy sign language and knows lots of commands ranging from the usual ‘paw’ to the more exuberant orders of twirling and playing dead if you pretend to shoot her!
Dogs Trust Darlington Supporter Relations Officer Katie Purvis explains:
“Doris is my absolute favourite and spends a lot of time in my office. She makes me smile every day and is such a joker with a heart of gold. Although it’ll be hard to part with her, we’re desperate to find her perfect home.
She needs an owner who doesn’t have cats but does have experience of the English Bull Terrier breed. She can only be rehomed with children aged 7+ as she’s so bouncy and jolly and may knock little ones over!”
If you would like to rehome Doris from Dogs Trust Darlington please call the centre directly on 01325 333114.
Dogs Trust cares for 16,000 dogs a year and its 17 Rehoming Centres look after 2000 dogs at any one time. If you are interested in rehoming a rescue dog please call 0207 837 0006 or go to www.dogstrust.org.uk
