Dogs Trust celebrates the second anniversary of the opening of its West London Rehoming Centre on 22nd March. And to top the icing on the birthday cake the centre is also celebrating a record number of successful dog rehoming cases.
To celebrate, a selection of special anniversary cream teas and sandwiches will be available to visitors and served in the converted 17th Century Colonel Rosy Hall.
Clarissa Baldwin OBE, Chief Executive Dogs Trust, comments: “As the UK’s largest dog welfare charity, we cannot emphasise enough how important our new flagship centre is to the successful rehoming of dogs in the West London area. Since opening in 2006 the centre has welcomed over 80,000 people through its doors and successfully rehomed 2,050 dogs of all shapes and sizes ranging from Great Danes to Pekingese. That’s a fantastic achievement and one that we are very proud of.”
Pogo the cat, Harefield’s resident Dog Tester, also has something to celebrate. He plays a vital role in the assessment of each dog that comes through the doors. Pogo has definitely been put through his paws over the last two years and to date has assessed over 300 individual dogs and puppies.
As if this wasn’t an achievement enough, the chic new centre also features on the recent ITV1 series Dog Rescue and boasts starring roles in the Underdog Show, Project Puppy, the Paul O'Grady Show and This Morning.
Over the last two years the centre has helped animal charity Hearing Dogs as well as the Armed Forces with the successful training and adoption of dogs. To date Harefield has homed six dogs with Hearing Dogs and three with the Armed Forces.
Celebrities including John Barrowman, Graham Norton and Thandi Newton have also flocked to the flagship centre and rehomed their very own Dogs Trust rescue dog.
Set in 16 acres of farmland that includes two Grade II listed barns the new centre is based in Harefield, in the London borough of Hillingdon. At less than 10 minutes from the M25 and M40 the centre is set in an area easily accessible from both London and the surrounding regions.
Dogs Trust is the UK’s largest dog welfare charity, caring for over 16,000 stray or abandoned dogs through its network of 17 Rehoming Centres across the UK. Dogs Trust is working towards the day when all dogs can enjoy a happy life, free from the threat of unnecessary destruction.
