Staff and volunteers from Dogs Trust Ilfracombe to brave night in haunted house to raise money for stray and abandoned dogs
A group of intrepid Ghostbusters from Dogs Trust Ilfracombe Rehoming Centre are spending the night in one of the UK’s most haunted houses – to raise funds for stray and abandoned dogs.
The staff and volunteers, led by Charity Shop Manager Emma Hobbs and Assistant Manager Sarah Lee Smith, are planning to brave the ghostly goings-on at North Devon’s Chambercombe Manor one night in May.
Legend has it that the 11th century Manor, which has been featured on television’s Most Haunted series, is visited by the ghost of Kate Wallace, whose skeleton was found in the 1800s in a sealed-up room.
Emma commented:
“We are all really looking forward to the night, although we’re slightly nervous about what we’re going to experience. We are hoping to be brave enough to stay in the manor without getting too scared or wanting to leave! It’s for a great cause, so I’m sure that will help everyone stick together.”
If you would like to sponsor Emma, Sarah Lee and the team, please call 01271 865359 or call into the Dogs Trust Charity Shop at 9 The Candar, Fore Street, Ilfracombe, North Devon.
Dogs Trust is the UK’s largest dog welfare charity. We rehome over 15,000 every year through our network of 17 Rehoming Centres across the UK.
