DOG STOLEN FROM REHOMING CENTRE
11 January 2012
Dogs Trust is calling on people to keep a watchful eye out for a little white Maltese Cross called Denny, who was stolen from the Ballymena centre yesterday (10th January). The four year old male was being walked by a member of the public who expressed an interest in rehoming him, but the two then disappeared from the centre.
Says Mary Carney, Dogs Trust Ballymena centre manager:
"The staff are very upset that such an incident has happened and hope that is was simply a lack of understanding on the gentleman’s behalf. He is a very friendly dog and has only been with us for just over a week, however in this time he has become a big hit with the staff. Our most important priority right now is the welfare of the dog and we hope that someone will come forward with information and help us find Denny."
Staff at the rehoming centre have contacted the police who unfortunately are unable to help at the moment, as the name and address supplied in the paperwork are not registered. Very little is known on the history of the dog as he came in a stray, but he may have started his life in Spain, as his microchip appears to have been registered there. Dogs Trust is urging anyone that knows anything about the situation or thinks they may have spotted Denny to contact the staff on 028 2565 2977.
