 Training and Behaviour Advisor - Dogs Trust Snetterton

  •   40 hours per week, Permanent
  • Responsible to the Rehoming Centre Manager or, in his or her absence, to the duty RC Assistant Managers, for assessing pre-intake and newly arrived dogs, designing and implementing dog training and behaviour modification programmes for these and other dogs in our care.  Also responsible for training Canine Carers to implement behavioural training programmes and for advising members of the public in the handling and training of dogs adopted from Dogs Trust.

Dog Training and Education Facilitator – Prison AAI Research Pilot - Dogs Trust Loughborough 

  •  40 hours per week, 12 month contract
  •  Dogs Trust is the largest dog welfare charity in the UK. Through our nationwide network of rehoming centres we rehome more than 16,000 dogs each year. We are offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced candidate to lead a new Animal Assisted Intervention (AAI) dog training pilot, which is being set up with a prison in the East Midlands area. This programme has been created to improve the rehoming success rate of dogs from our Loughborough rehoming centre by selected prisoners teaching them obedience and training techniques. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day delivery of the pilot, including assessing and selecting suitable dogs, delivery of the dog training and education sessions at the prison and supervising assisting staff. During the pilot the welfare and behaviour outcomes for them dogs involved will be critically reviewed. You will have experience in dog training and delivering training to handlers, as well as experience of facilitating training or learning in a classroom environment. You will have a thorough knowledge of dog behaviour and welfare, with experience of dealing with a variety of dogs and breed types. You will also be a confident communicator, with experience of working with stakeholders at all levels. You should have a valid driving licence and be IT literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office. An enhanced DBS disclosure is required for this post.

Registered Veterinary Nurse - Dogs Trust Darlington

  • 40 hours per week, Permanent
  • Our Darlington Rehoming Centre boasts a modern surgical suite for the neutering of dogs and minor operations prior to adoption. This suite is the ideal environment for a Veterinary Nurse to make a valuable contribution to the work of the charity. You will join our site team of canine health experts responsible for the smooth running of the veterinary suite; you will prepare patients prior to surgery, administer medication, assist the Veterinary Surgeon and monitor our recovery kennels. You will be a qualified and registered Veterinary Nurse, preferably with experience gained in a similar environment, with excellent interpersonal and team skills to interact with the public and colleagues. An enthusiastic person, you should be motivated by the aims and objectives of Dogs Trust. You will work 8.00am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday. A full clean driving licence is essential. Benefits include company pension and 22 days holiday.
