Toy breeds

The Toy breeds are made up of companion dogs and those that are small in size. They are friendly and need lots of attention. They do not need as much exercise as the other breeds, so would be suited to the less mobile or ‘lazier’ owner. Although they are small dogs they have big personalities and there is a real risk of them turning into terrors if spoilt or treated like ‘delicate flowers’ by their owners. Despite the group’s name, they are real dogs and should be treated as such. Socialisation and resisting the temptation of picking them up in any potentially frightening situation will help ensure that they become perfect companions.
