Will making

Making a Will, or adding a codicil to your existing Will is the only sure way to protect the interests of your family, including your dog.

We all need to plan for the future whether it is for our children, grandchildren or even our pets.  By writing a Will to include the people you care about, you can have the peace of mind knowing they will be cared for in the years to come when you will not be around to help.

Just like we can provide for our family and friends after our death, legacies can also ensure that thousands of dogs can be looked after and found loving and caring homes for years to come.

Legacies are so important to Dogs Trust, as they allow us to plan for the future.

Without the kind generosity of people who choose to leave Dogs Trust a gift in their Will, the vital work we have to do to ensure that no healthy dog is destroyed for want of a loving home, simply would not be possible.

Types of Legacies

There are three main types of gift you can leave to Dogs Trust:

  • Residuary Gift - is the gift of all (or part) of the value of your estate.
  • Pecuniary Gift - is the gift of a particular sum of money.
  • Specific - is the gift of a specified item that could be for example; property, a painting or a piece of jewellery.

If you have not yet made a Will, our Faithful Friends information pack explains all the stages of leaving a legacy to Dogs Trust.  It is also a good idea to take independent legal advice.
