Political Campaigns and Doggy Manifesto

From our beginnings as the National Canine Defence League (NCDL), through to today as Dogs Trust, we have always campaigned on dog-welfare related issues. We work closely with politicians and policy makers across the UK and internationally to raise awareness of dog welfare issues.

We are currently campaigning for the compulsory microchipping of dogs. We would also like to see stronger measures to protect the welfare of Greyhounds, an effective dialogue on the growing social problem of dangerous and status dogs, and a total ban on the battery-farming and selling of puppies in pet shops.

We recently launched our ‘Doggy Manifesto’, which you can find out more about by watching the video below. We are calling on all politicians to think carefully about the wider social impact of dog welfare and how important dogs are to us as individuals and in the wider community.
